My wedding hiatus needs to be over

So this is me attempting to get back into wedding planning. I was sitting on the couch watching Sweet Home Alabama with my mom and suddenly thought, I could be doing something wedding-related. I then convinced my mom to start working on one of my wedding DIY projects. I needed my mom for this because it involves sewing. Yea, sewing.

Long story short, it involves these escort cards and table napkins. Let's start with the escort cards.
Wherever I got this image from (too long ago), the blogger had created custom napkins from different patterns and incorporated it into her seating chart. So her guests would look for their names and match the fabric pattern on their card to the table with the corresponding napkins. Adorable right? And definitely a must-have.

I ran this idea by my mom and surprisingly she was OK with it. So I started buying fabric and after sitting on it for a good two months, I decided today, to get the ball rolling.

So here we go. Start with fabric.
Measure it. In this case, we're shooting for 18 or 19 inches. Once you have the desired length, cut the fabric in a square.
Then watch your mom attempt to sew the edges. She had to attempt because the sewing machine was acting up.
Read the instruction manual because the sewing machine is acting up.
Give up after 20 minutes, fold it nicely, and stick a draft version of your Menu card into the napkin fold - and then take a pic of it for your blog.
Ta da! The end.

P.S. This will eventually continue at a later point. When the sewing machine isn't acting up.

Uhh, how cool are these shoes?

Oasis Feather Peeptoe Shoe from Asos

Tonight

So my goal for tonight was to go home after work, write a wedding-related blog post, and pass out. But today, one of my co-workers brought me a big ol' bag of ripe bananas...which was code for, "make me banana nut bread." Which I'm happy to do for everyone. But now I won't be writing a wedding-related post. Instead, you'll be reading this non-wedding related crap.

Back to bread. I thought I already wrote a post of my famous banana nut bread but apparently that was on Monkey Bars. If I would've realized this earlier, I would've documented my whole process. Because, well frankly, my banana nut bread is GOOD. Like awesome, incredible, lick your lips, and drool good. I promise, I'm humble
most of the times.

I wish I could say I was brilliant enough to come up with my own recipe but I'm not. I use the Extreme Banana Nut Bread (EBNB) recipe, but I make one change. I'll share it just because it's so good, everyone should go out and make it. Like now. Are you ready? Here's my secret. Use. Brown. Sugar. That makes the biggest difference in the world. Trust me.
And if you're skeptical about this delish recipe, read the notes below from the recipe-creator-person.

  • Tips
  • 1) Do not taste this in advance of serving.
  • 2) Do not cut loaves prior to serving.
  • 3) Hide it from yourself, your spouse, kids, neighbors and contractors who may be downwind until ready to serve.
  • 4) Cut at the last possible moment, and finally,
  • 5) pre-print 8 or 10 small recipe sheets and leave them wherever you put the EBNB (seriously) otherwise you'll have lots of people bugging you for the recipe.

    This is so true. G'night!

P.S. Lost was awesome last night. It deserves it's own post. And 100% of my brain power. Which is currently lacking right now.

D's birthday was yesterday. I bought one of those big cards that also plays a song and had everyone I could find, sign it. That boy is loved.Really loved by some of his friends.
I can't wait for him to come home!

Damn Victoria's Secret...

...and their ridiculously cute bikinis. I've had these 2 in my shopping cart for a whopping total of 24 hours, but I can't help it, I have a shopping problem.

Wore my new shoes today. Since D's still in OKC, I had to represent at his sister's graduation. Congrats Jes!

The dress is Kensie Girl from Loehmann's. And the belt - I kind of wish I had a different one. It really didn't go with the shoes but I needed something.

Shoes!

My shoes came in...and they fit! They only had them half a size larger so they're a tad big but definitely doable. And plus, I think they're really freakin' cute.

I know the exposure's way off in the following image, but I kind of like it.
I bought them on Endless. Which gives you FREE overnight shipping (i.e. fantastic site!).
Side note - I think it's pretty sad that I don't own a tripod. I have an SLR for crying out loud. Alas, that's what mirrors are for.

The shoes even matched my outfit. Tis a good sign.

Shop till you drop

I went on a binge shopping spree last night. I hadn't burned money in a while and my computer was calling my name...so I bought 'stuff.'

I bought shoes for...nothing really. I've been wanting a cute pair of brown sandals with a chunky heel for a while so I found a pair on Endless and ordered them. They only had half a size bigger than my shoe size but I took the risk and bought them. I get them tomorrow so expect a post tomorrow...assuming I like them.

The next purchase I made was for D's birthday. He's being stubborn and telling me not to get him anything but a girl can be stubborn too. I took a guess and bought him a new toy. Let's hope he likes it. Yet again, expect a post in a couple of weeks for the big reveal.

And finally...what I'm kind of really excited about. I bought paper! For my invites! I saw this post on my Google Reader and nearly peed myself.
I am in love with this wood grain paper!

I know, I have a unhealthy obsession sometimes.

I love, love finding new and cute sites. Check out this site - Spark, Letter Press Love - the design is adorable! I think my favorite invitation suite is the Erin collection. I seriously love everything!

Back to the inevitable wedding planning

I've been on a hiatus from wedding planning for a good 2 or 3 weeks. I think it's time to come back.

We'll start with some recent news. My bridesmaids are starting to purchase their outfits! One of my best friends purchased shoes that she's hoping to wear for the wedding.
I think they're adorable! I'm really excited to see what she decides to wear - she (aka oneshoetwo) has the best fashion sense...ever.

My other best friend actually bought her dress this past weekend. While I was in Jamaica I got a text from her in NYC...shopping capital of the world.

Side note - oneshoetwo and I actually went to NYC just for shopping...it was great!

Back to my other bridesmaid - she had sent me a pic of a dress from Express a couple of weeks ago. I thought it was super cute. One day, I headed to the mall during my lunch break and checked out the dress. It was perfect for her! In the store it looked a little on the pink side but the color's called Powder so I think it'll look more on the cream side outside in the actual sun.
I love the pleats! And she only paid $80 which makes me happy. I hate asking my bridesmaids to get their own dresses but at least they can decide how much they want to spend. I like being a non-bridezilla. :)

I've been a bad blogger

I'm sorry. I broke my post-at-least-once-a-week rule. I have a good excuse though. Ready? Lack of time. And lack of inspiration.

But I promise to get back into the habit...tomorrow. I just came back from Jamaica a few hours ago and I'm pooped. Weekend before then, I was in Oklahoma visiting D. This upcoming weekend? Let's hope I'm home.

Good night. :)

P.S. Happy birthday to my bestest friend, oneshoetwo! She turned 23 today. Which means in a little over a month, I'll be hitting the big TWO-THREE too. We both already feel like old farts....not a good sign.
